I know that I have made that statement countless times in my 28 years on this earth. I wish I could work on my business and send my clone to do that tech team meeting at the church. I wish I could workout and have my clone finish up that paper work.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day to sleep, study, pray, learn, meet people, love our families, accomplish tasks, go to the bathroom (that is longer for some than others), sing, play, workout, twitter, and just be.
If your life is like mine, then there never seems to be enough time in the day. I am always one meeting short, or one task away from feeling complete. I never accomplish everything that I want to. There is always more to be done for the kingdom of God.
This is where the importance of learning to delegate comes in. Through delegation, we can multiply our effectiveness and impact on a daily basis. We can accomplish more than we ever could on our own.
Not only can we accomplish more through delegation but we are also fulfilling the call of a pastor in the New Testament. We are to "train up and equip the body for works of service in the local church." Delegation is a God ordained principle, it was not created by Fast Company or Google. Delegation was God's idea.
So, two huge reasons that we must learn how to delegate effectively are:
1. We can multiply our impact and contribution to the ethos of our organization and the world.
2. We encourage and equip others to join us in the greatest journey available in this life, service to God.
Do you struggle with delegation? Do you fear giving authority to others? Are you tired of delegating something and then watching it fail? In the next few days we will be answering these questions and many more on the topic of delegation.
If you know someone who needs to read this, pass it on or link to it.
