Backpacking in Colorado

One of my favorite things to do in life is backpack and Camp.  I love getting far away from civilization and "roughing it."  For me there is something very spiritual about it.  I didn't get to go in 07, but for the past three years I have been to the 14'er Snowmass mtn. in Aspen Colorado.

I'm trying to get the 08 trip planned right now.  I am not sure if we will hit the same ol' spot or try something new.

Any Suggestions?  The trip is open to anyone who's down.  It does require some skill, endurance, and equipment but if you are interested let me know.

This video is of several 14'ers that we summited during our week long adventure.  Don't laugh at my "scared to death" pic.  I was Scared, a storm had blown in, we were absolutely soaked to the bone, it was freezing, and we were way above the treeline with about 20 feet visibility. I was worried that kevin and Aus were going to get hypothermia under my leadership and I would have been in a lot of trouble when I got home.

The cool cat Aus, kept his composure as you can see in his pic and we made it to the summit and back down with relative ease.  Kev had the most problems, with me yelling at him and threatening to kill him if he didn't start acting more careful while coming down.  Then I watched him tumble down the scree slope and I thought he was a goner for about a second.  Thank God we all made it down without any real injuries or sickness.  It rained the rest of the trip, but the weather broke for a half a day so we summited Mount Elbert in a couple of hours.

It definitely was a memorable trip and I can't wait for this year.

Let me know any suggestions for future trips or if you would like to go with us.

P.s. This video had audio but for some unknown reason it disappeared and cut of about 30 sec of video.  Just imagine Bob Marley singing "No Woman, No Cry" and a lot more pics.
